Another Washington resident recently won big playing Washington’s Lottery “Lotto” game. The long-time Tacoma resident claimed her $2.2 million prize at the Olympia Regional Office on April 23.

The winner realized she was Washington’s newest Lottery millionaire on Easter evening, when her husband came home from the store with the exciting news. She had purchased her winning ticket at the 72nd Deli Market at 716 South 72nd Street in Tacoma.

The winner explained that she doesn’t often purchase tickets. In fact, she only does so about one or two times a year when she carries cash with her. Her favorite games are “Lotto” and “Scratch.” “When my husband came home and shared the news with me, I had to get him to calm down,” the winner told Washington’s Lottery officials when she claimed her prize at the Olympia Regional Office.

The humble winner shared that she and her husband are going to pay off their mortgage, keep their jobs, and save the money for when they retire. She shared the best part about the big win is the feeling of security it provides. Plus, the winner plans to donate to local non-profit agencies she has personally worked with. “I donate every year a little bit. Now I’ll be able to donate more,” she shared.

As an occasional Lottery player, this was her first big win. This is the second multi-million dollar Washington’s Lottery “Lotto” winner in less than three months. On February 22, a couple in the Gig Harbor area won $8.7 million on a “Lotto” ticket they purchased at the QFC at 5010 Point Fosdick Drive Northwest in Gig Harbor.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing scholarships to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit Washington’s Lottery website here
