When the 115th U.S. Open is played at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington, on June 15 through 21, 2015, Gig Harbor will welcome thousands of golf fans to explore this premier destination’s many visitor attractions.

Chambers Bay is the first municipal course to host the prestigious U.S. Open championship, and it will the first time this tournament has been played in the state of Washington. The Scottish-style links course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and opened in 2007, is considered to be one of the most difficult courses in the country.

“With enviable proximity to Chambers Bay, Gig Harbor is a chip shot from the game and a short drive to all the great things to do and see in our vibrant maritime city,” said Karen Scott, Tourism and Communications Director, City of Gig Harbor. “Our community is rolling out the red carpet, welcoming golfers and visitors for this historic golf tournament before, during and after the Open.”

To assist those interested in being in the area for this prestigious golf event, Gig Harbor has introduced a new concierge service to provide information about where to stay, play and dine, as well as how to get from here to there.
