From Wednesday, April 15, through Sunday, April 19, French-born, Seattle-based artist Armelle Bouchet O’Neill will work in the Museum of Glass Hot Shop on pieces that confront the question: what impression does our natural habitat have on us as individuals?

Inspired by the rich and wild landscapes she has observed and experienced, Bouchet O’Neill will create works of art that explore topography and the idea that every place is unique. “The work aims to be my ode to the beauty and the diversity of our surroundings,” states Bouchet O’Neill.

After completing her program in the field of glass at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, Bouchet O’Neill received the Lino Tagliapietra Award to attend Pilchuck Glass School in 2007. She later studied at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, WA. Bouchet O’Neill has since exhibited her work throughout Sweden, Denmark, Oregon, Washington, and Illinois. Already the recipient of prestigious awards and fellowships for her work, she most recently received the Artists’ Choice Award at the 2014 Red Hot Gala and Auction at Museum of Glass.

This is Bouchet O’Neill’s third Visiting Artist Residency at MOG. On Sunday, April 19, at 2 pm she will deliver a Conversation with the Artist talk about her work. Bouchet O’Neill’s entire residency will stream live at museumofglass.org/glassmaking/live-from-the-hot-shop.
