Destiny Harbor Tours, South Puget Sound’s premier tour boat operator, has added “Tour to see the Course” guided excursions to view Chambers Bay from the water during the US Open, now through June 21, 2015. The sightseeing tour will depart daily at 1:00 p.m. from Gig Harbor’s Maritime Pier, adjacent to Tides Tavern. Tickets are $60 per person.
“We’re excited to give people a chance to get out on the water and experience Chambers Bay from a unique vantage point,” said Tom Drohan, captain and owner, Destiny Harbor Tours. “With the US Open being played on a waterfront course, this was a natural addition.”
The 3.5-hour boat ride will take in the spectacular natural and man-made sights of South Puget Sound including the Tacoma Narrows Bridges, Salmon Beach and Point Defiance. The tour will remain outside the established 3,000-foot federal security zone at the golf course.
A private charter for businesses or others wishing to reserve the entire boat is also available and will depart at 5:00 p.m. The group charter cost is $1,495 and departs from the Maritime Pier. Capacity is 34 passengers.
Lead ship for this tour is the M/V “RIVIERA” a sturdy, USCG Certified tour yacht with seating for 34 people.
“The Riviera is notable for her romance and character,” added Drohan. “She rides like a dream.”
Passengers and groups are welcome to bring food and non-alcohol beverages aboard the vessel. A restroom is provided.
During the week, established Gig Harbor and Tacoma Narrows tours will depart Gig Harbor at 3:30 p.m. and Tacoma at noon.
Destiny Harbor Tours operates daily, guided excursions throughout the summer season from Gig Harbor. The fleet includes two, authentic, restored US Navy boats – “Destiny” and “Maritime” – which are USCG-certified for 33 passengers each. Private charters are also available.
