Did you know?

  • African American women bear a disproportionate burden of breast cancer in Pierce County and are more likely to die at a younger age from breast cancer than any other race of women.
  • Breast cancer death rates and premature death from breast cancer were higher in Tacoma, than any other city within Pierce County, despite relatively high rates of mammography screening.

In the spirit of Black History Month, do something special for you and your family and get your screening mammogram! The Carol Milgard Breast Center is offering screening mammograms and complimentary spa service for women who may be uninsured or medically underserved. Every woman deserves quality breast healthcare and as a non-profit organization, we provide financial assistance throughout the year so everyone can access essential mammography services, regardless of their financial circumstances.

We would like to invite eligible women ages 40 years of age and over to come participate in a screening mammography event that includes special gifts, breast health education, and complimentary spa services.

Patient Eligibility

Patients must be 40 years of age or older to participate in a screening event. Patients must qualify for screening mammogram only. To qualify, the patient should meet these conditions:

  • is not symptomatic for breast issues
  • does not have an issue that is currently being followed and
  • has no personal history of breast cancer within the last five years

If patients have insurance, they can still participate. However, in those cases, the breast center will bill the insurance company, even if they are seen during a screening event.
