This study examines traffic congestion along the SR 16 corridor between the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and SR 3 in Gorst. The online survey results will help WSDOT better understand how people use the corridor, their perceptions of transportation needs along the corridor and which transportation issues matter most to them.

“As part of the Connecting Washington transportation package, this study will help us determine the best strategies to address the needs of this critical corridor over the next 20 years,” said Dennis Engel, WSDOT planning manager.

The survey is open until 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 26. The public will have additional opportunities to offer input on the study at public meetings planned this fall.

The final study report will summarize and rank transportation strategies that could include:

  • Operational improvements
  • Intelligent Transportation System improvements
  • Transportation demand management strategies
  • Transit, freight, bicycle or pedestrian improvements
  • Enhancements to the highway configuration
  • Use of other tools such as education and enforcement
