Office wear. Athletic gear. Brand-name goods. From upscale to vintage, casual to costumes, Tacoma’s
ReStyle Clothing Company is a budget-savvy fashionista’s dream. This cozy 6th Avenue boutique offers a fun, welcoming shopping experience for people of all genders and all style persuasions. You’ll find secondhand clothing in like-new condition with great prices to match.
Walking into ReStyle, you feel like you are entering a high-end boutique. You’ll find well-organized racks of high-quality secondhand women’s and men’s clothing, an impressive wall of shoes, sparkling accessories and even a small selection of home goods. Sizes range from extra-small to 3x, and every fashion need from designer handbags and eyewear to seasonal basics are in supply here.
But perhaps what makes ReStyle unique is owner Kirsten Reynolds’ passion for offering her customers a top-notch experience. Warm and gracious, Tacoma native Kirsten opened the boutique about a year and a half ago, and puts her heart into every aspect of it. She offers customized styling assistance, special events and even welcomes you to bring in favorite items of clothing for help finding the just-right pieces to go with it. With her loyal shop dog Sadie by her side, Kirsten will quickly make you a repeat customer and huge ReStyle fan.
Beyond quality wares, ReStyle also offers some special events. For example, they host a Clothing Swap once a year, where you can exchange styles with your neighbors in a fun setting. She also offers a Bag Sale, where you can fill a bag of select goods for a set price.
Kirsten also works hard to bring ReStyle into the community. Kirsten recently hosted an entirely Plus-Size Fashion Show on 6th Avenue, which was a hit. The event was followed by custom styling advice for plus-size fashion lovers. “It’s very important for me for the shop to be a gender and size inclusive shopping experience,” she says. You’ll also find ReStyle hosting local artists for third Thursday Arts Walks, as well as partaking in Art on the Ave and 253 Style Week week. For the holidays, stop in at ReStyle on Small Business Saturday and find them at the Santa Parade. Kirsten also represents ReStyle at community efforts like National Park(ing) Day, to promote public urban spaces.
In fact, ReStyle Clothing is born out of Kirsten’s twin passions. “I have a lifelong love of upcycling and recycling,” she explains. “I wanted to bridge this with my passion for living and working in the community.” Born and raised in Tacoma, Kirsten worked in government contracts for many years and consigned on the side prior to opening her own store. She is a SpaceWorks graduate, and she says it was during her second class with them, when she was writing a grant for her business, that she thought, “This is it. I want this to happen, and I want to be the one to do it.” She is as passionate about Pierce County as she is about upcycled fashion, and she is even known to pop out a Tacoma map for store visitors new to the area.
ReStyle is more than just a neat clothing store – it’s quickly becoming an integral part of the community. When asked about her future vision for ReStyle, Kirsten says she’d like to continue to raise awareness about fast fashion and more sustainable options. Secondhand clothing offers the chance to find pieces that are unique, light on the planet and truly make your own style statement.
For your next special occasion, you can also book a V.I.P. Party at ReStyle. ReStyle offers private after-hours events for you and up to 20 guests in the V.I.P. Party Room. You’ll enjoy an exclusive private shopping event, or host your workshop, class or even your own pop-up shop. Light refreshments are included and you can bring your own specialty food and drink. The hostess also receives a special discount on purchases.
For your next shopping trip, gather your favorite shopping partner or just enjoy some “me” time, with a one-of-a-kind shopping experience at ReStyle Clothing Company. You’ll be supporting a local woman-owned business, and you are guaranteed to fall in love with some of Kirsten’s hand-picked items from our local community. Your pocketbook will thank you as well.
ReStyle does offer select consignment services for your high-quality clothing, especially brand-name items. To keep the quality high, only bring in your best pieces, advises Kirsten (please check the website for details).
