Some want the latest tech gadget, some wish for a good book, all that Tommy wants for the holidays is a home. Stuck in the shelter system for over a year, Tommy has been patiently waiting for his forever family to find him.

In September 2018, the three-year-old Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull mix was found as a stray in Central Washington. His face was covered in porcupine quills. Tommy was brought to an area shelter where he stayed until April 2019. Overflowing with dogs, the shelter sent Tommy to the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County.

A staff and volunteer favorite at both shelters, Tommy has been at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County ever since. He’s made friends with Reign FC soccer players, visited a TV station with a former Seahawks player, channeled his inner Elvis for Halloween, gone on a few doggie sleepovers and off-site play dates with shelter volunteers, but still, he waits for his family to find him. Tommy has a goofy and affectionate personality. He’s very social, active and loves to play. Tommy is looking for a family that can keep up! Even though he’s been through a lot, Tommy is the “forgive and forget” type. He needs to be the only fur-child in your home and would excel as your hiking or trail buddy.

Tommy has waited for so long to find his perfect family, and this holiday season we want to make his dreams come true, no matter how long it takes! Tommy’s reference number is A535857. You can learn more about him and all of our available animals by visiting the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County at 2608 Center Street in Tacoma or online.
