Harriet: The Black Swan Ballet- The Harriet Tubman Story

Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center (T.U.P.A.C.) presents the world premiere of “Harriet: The Black Swan,” based on the life story of Harriet Tubman. The in-studio performance features dancers of all ages and will be performing at T.U.P.A.C., a nonprofit dance studio offering world-class dance education to children and youth from all backgrounds. Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers. The company embodies the mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people. Under the direction of Sylvia Waters from 1974 to 2012, Ailey II flourished into one of the most popular modern dance companies, combining a rigorous touring schedule with extensive community outreach programs. The New York Times declares, “There’s nothing like an evening spent with Ailey II, the younger version of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.” There will be two performances: Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 3:00 PM.

A Family Mystery Dinner @ Chambers Creek Regional Park Environmental Services Building

The crowd was hushed as the museum proprietor got ready to unveil the prized display of the evening, the Stomach of the Ocean Diamond, only to find it had been stolen while the crowd mingled in bliss. Now it is up to you, and the detective to find the thief and restore the diamond to its rightful place, getting unveiling back on track!

Join us for an all ages evening that includes dinner provided by The Old Spaghetti Factory, crafts, a photo booth to take pictures, and live theater entertainment provided by The Murder Mystery Company in Seattle!

Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few reasons why fans are eating up Spamalot! There will be two performances on Saturday, March 9, 2019: one at 3:00 and one at 7:30 PM.

Family History Quilt Show @ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The 3rd biennial Family History Quilt Show – Every Quilt Has A Story, hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, brings together the community through a love of heritage, quilting, and family history. The show will include: Traditional to Contemporary Quilts, a Viewer’s Choice Award, Charity Quilt Tying & Demonstrations, Meeker Mansion Pioneer Display, and much more. The Family History Research Center, located inside the meetinghouse, will also be open to those interested in connecting with their loved ones through genealogical work.
The community event will be held on Saturday, March 16th from 10:00am – 5:00pm, at the South Hill Stake Center, 13420 N. 94th Ave. E., Puyallup. All are welcome. Admission is FREE.
