Gig Harbor now has three life jacket loaner stations in our community. Thanks to a cooperative effort of The City of Gig Harbor, Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and Washington Boating Commission, we now have three locations to borrow a life jacket – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The three locations are:
Jerisich Dock – 3211 Harbor View Drive
Eddon Boat Dock – 3805 Harborview Drive
Maritime Pier – 3003 Harborview Drive
Anyone can borrow a life jacket, then return it when done using it. The Coast Guard reported in its 2008 Boating Statistics report that about 90 percent of drowning victims that year were not wearing life jackets. Life jackets save lives!
