gig harborThe Peninsula Art League (PAL)and the City of Gig Harbor are pleased to host ‘The Net Shed Art Project’ on display from now through June 15th at the Civic Center, located at 3510 Grandview Street, in Gig Harbor.  The show is on display in the lobby and is available for viewing between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The show culminates from a year-long PAL program whereby local artists painted, photographed, and sketched one or more of the town’s seventeen historic net sheds located along the waterfront in downtown Gig Harbor.  Nearly twelve months after gathering and rendering their art, PAL members came together to share and show those efforts with this fifty-eight piece show. “Our individual experiences of these historical structures, allow us to share the past by bring these impressions into the present through our visual voice,” says Anne Knapp of PAL. “As artists we are leaving our lasting memories for the future community of residents that live among our models. Whether ‘in conjunction with’ or ‘out of curiosity for’ these structures define Gig Harbor’s past.  We hope you enjoy the show”.

The Peninsula Art League wishes to extend special thanks to our supporting community who inspired and encouraged this effort to become a successful project:  Lita Dawn Stanton, The City of Gig Harbor, the Gig Harbor Arts Commission and Destiny Harbor Tours.
