Zoran Milanovi?, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, will visit Gig Harbor on Sunday, September 28.

The City of Gig Harbor is excited to announce the arrival of Zoran Milanovi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, to Gig Harbor for a special visit on Sunday, September 28, 2014.  As part of this visit, the city invites the public to attend the welcome ceremony to greet the Prime Minister at 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m., at Skansie Brothers Park Pavilion, located at 3207 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor.

The Prime Minister has asked to visit Gig Harbor to learn more about the Croatia – Gig Harbor connection and to learn about the impact of Croatians on early development in Gig Harbor. His trip will also include a tour of city streets named after some of our Croatian pioneers, via the Pierce Transit ‘Get Around Gig Harbor’ Trolley, a visit of the Harbor History Museum, and a private lunch all following the welcome reception at Skansie Park.

The Prime Minister will be in Washington State for a multi-day trip that includes stops in Seattle and Gig Harbor. Other stops include San Francisco, and New York. The United States visit includes discussions with IT giants Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Hewlett-Packard to discuss potential investment and cooperation. The visit has been organized in part by the US Chamber of Commerce.

Free hand-held Croatian flags will add to the fanfare and will be distributed to the public in Gig Harbor prior to the Prime Ministers arrival at Skansie Park. The public is encouraged to join in on the gathering at the park to welcome this head of state.
