As the upcoming US Open puts Chambers Bay and Pierce County on the map, golfers are taking note of the many other excellent golf courses in the surrounding region. Geographically and hospitality-wise, Gig Harbor is perfectly situated to both the famed links-style course, as well as ten other sought-out courses, all within an hour’s drive or less.

Proximity to top courses
Gig Harbor is 8.5 miles from Chambers Bay, the municipal course and park created from a former quarry. Both Canterwood and Madrona Links are located in Gig Harbor. Gold Mountain, The Home Course, McCormick Woods, Trophy Lake, and Washington National are within a 30-minute drive. White Horse, Salish Cliffs and Alderbrook are within an hour’s drive.
Welcoming golfers and golf fans
Both of Gig Harbor’s largest lodging establishments are currently offering golf packages. And, in addition to sprucing up, the City of Gig Harbor introduced a concierge desk for US Open goers.
The INN at Gig Harbor partnered with Canterwood Golf and Country Club, an 18-hole, private course in Gig Harbor, on its Stay and Play! package. The package includes overnight accommodations in a Jacuzzi or fireplace suite, 18 holes of golf including golf cart and driving range access, in-room welcome snack with Heritage Distilling spirits on arrival, and a full American breakfast. Tailor Made Golf may include confirmed tee times, restaurant suggestions and/or reservations, as well as any other available personalized requests and activities.
