Museum of Glass Celebrates Mother’s Day with Special Events

From April 28 through May 10, Museum of Glass will offer visitors a selection of hands-on workshops, along with store discounts and free admission for moms, to celebrate the mothers in their lives.

For those looking to purchase or make a gift for or with their mom prior to Mother’s Day on May 10:

  • The Museum of Glass Store will offer 20 percent off all fine jewelry, April 28 though May 10. MOG members will receive a 30 percent discount. A wide selection of local artists’ work is available in a variety of colors and styles!
  • Hilltop Artists will be on hand to help visitors create their own glass flower, May 2 and 3. Participants will be picking color and shaping. Must be 12 years of age to participate. Saturday times are 10:15 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4:15 p.m. Sunday times are 12:30 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4:15 p.m. $50 per person, $25 for MOG members. Pre-payment required, no refunds. Call 253-284-4719 to make your reservation. Shipping is available for $15, or flowers can be picked up from the MOG Store on Tuesday, May 5. Visitors can also celebrate their moms at Museum of Glass on Mother’s Day, May 10.
  • MOG will offer all visitors’ mothers free admission on Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. Enjoy live glassmaking by the Museum of Glass Hot Shop Team and four exhibitions: Joseph Rossano: Vanity, Chihuly Drawings, Patra Passage, and Kids Design Glass Too.
  • Mom and Me Fusing workshops will be available from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants and their mothers can each design a glass tile, sun catcher, or two pendants/magnets. $30 for two person workshop. Reservations recommended. Call 253-284-4719.
  • Chihuly Walking Tour, 2:00 p.m. $25 per person, $5 for mothers.

Visitors are also encouraged to share their Mother’s Day photos featuring their moms from inside the Museum’s Voila A. Chihuly gallery on the Museum of Glass Facebook page on May 10. The gallery is named after Dale Chihuly’s mother and is currently home to the Chihuly Drawings exhibition.
