Third Annual Brew-Five-Three: Tacoma’s Beer & Blues Festival Announces Blues, Brewer and Food Truck Lineup for August 8

Broadway Center for the Performing Arts hosts its third annual Brew-Five-Three: Tacoma’s Beer and Blues Festival on Saturday, August 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Broadway Center for the Performing Arts hosts its third annual Brew-Five-Three: Tacoma’s Beer and Blues Festival on Saturday, August 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as a downtown Tacoma block party on Broadway between 9th and 11th.  Today, organizers announced the roster of blues groups, Washington State breweries and cideries, and food vendors. 

Brew Five Three’s blues lineup in 2015 includes:

Duffy Bishop
Duffy Bishop is a powerful blues blaster and a sultry soul singer. Bishop just released her eighth album, has been honored in the Cascade Blues Association and Washington Blues Society Hall of Fame, and currently stars as Madame ZinZanni with Teatro ZinZanni in Seattle.

Market Street Dixieland Jass Band
Market Street Dixieland Jass Band brings New Orleans style Jazz, Ragtime, Stomps, and Blues at its best. Their irresistible Dixieland stylings represent the Southern music of the 1900s to 1930s made famous by Jelly Roll Morton, Scott Joplin, Louis Armstrong and more.

Dean Reichert Band
A “blues fusionist,” Reichert’s music is varied and his sound reflects the influences of his wide-ranging collaborators.

Paul Green Blues Band
A former “Best Blues Harmonica” winner and member of the Washington Blues Society Hall of Fame, Paul Green’s band plays a hard-riding blues, R&B and funk style.

In addition to a stellar lineup of Washington State blues bands, the downtown Tacoma block party will again fill Broadway with Washington breweries and cideries. The 36 participants confirmed at this time include:

Food vendors for Brew Five Three 2015 include Fish Basket’s Mobile Fish Bar, Lucky Eagle Casino Mobile Catering, Lumpia World, Great Northwest Popcorn, and Viet Nom Nom.

Brew Five Three is a 21+ event; valid photo ID required for entry; no exceptions. Failure to present proper, valid photo identification (driver’s license or passport) will result in denial of entry without refund. Brew Five Three will take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, tents will be constructed and the festival will move under cover. Well-behaved dogs on leash are permitted.

Proceeds from Brew Five Three: Tacoma’s Beer and Blues Festival support Broadway Center Education Programs, which reach close to 38,000 Washington State students a year through far-reaching and impactful programs ranging from year-round theatre classes, Civil Rights Legacy touring shows, and The LENS Project. Advance tickets to Brew Five Three are on sale now. Tickets are$25 through August 1, and are $30 the week of the festival. Full-price tickets include six tasting tokens and a souvenir pint glass. Members of the military may purchase a $25 ticket without expiry.
