Pink flamingos, parrot hats, tropical attire and Jimmy Buffett music rule the day Friday, July 17, 2015 as the Gig Harbor Midday Rotary Club hosts their 11th annual Golferitaville Charity Best Ball Tournament at McCormick Woods Golf Course.

“This tournament is crazy-fun thanks to sponsors who host games and activities for golfers at every tee. It’s a great one-on-one business connection in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, all to support charity,” said Cheri Johnson, tournament director. “And of course, the Jimmy Buffett vibe is everywhere.”

The day begins with bright colorful decor and flocks of flamingos placed throughout the course. Seattle musician, Calypso Ken, performs throughout the day adding to the tropical atmosphere.  Golfers compete for prizes including giant flat-screen televisions, cars, and sporting equipment. “Everyone wins, especially the charities,” said Johnson.

Considered the South Sound’s premier charity golf tournament, the event has raised nearly $200 thousand dollars for local charities including Backpacks for Kids, Build Casa, the Women’s Prison Work Re-Entry Program, Youth Scholarships and much more. “Our goal is to ‘fun’ raise while supporting important community programs” remarked Johnson.

The Rotary Club is still accepting golfers and sponsors. For more information contact Cheri Johnson at 253-225-6336 or www.golferitaville.com
