August Brings Summer Fun for Everyone at America’s Car Museum

Summer is in full swing! As the mercury rises, you and your family can escape the heat and cool down at America’s Car Museum.

August Highlights:

Vintage Motorcycle Festival: The MEET at ACM

Aug. 22 – 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

More than 2,500 motorcycle enthusiasts will gather on the Haub Family Field at America’s Car Museum for the Vintage Motorcycle Festival featuring hundreds of vintage motorcycles and scooters ranging from 1910 to 1990, including rare Indians, Triumphs, Ducatis, BMWs and more. Virtually every brand in the history of motorcycling will be represented from owners across the U.S. and Canada.

A used bike corral, demo rides, free seminars, vendor booths, food trucks and live music presented by Emerald Queen Casino make this an event you won’t want to miss. The festival is followed on Sun., Aug. 23 by a motorcycle ride that leaves from the Anderson Plaza at ACM to enjoy the scenic back roads and rolling foothills between Tacoma and Mt. Rainier.

Enter to win a 2015 Indian Chief Vintage motorcycle! Raffle tickets are now available for purchase at the Museum. Tickets are one for $20 or six for $100 and the winner will be drawn on Aug. 22 at the MEET. You do not have to be present to win.

Drive-In Movie Series

Aug. 8 – Cars 2

Aug. 29 – Grease

Nothing says summer like old-fashioned drive-in movies!  Load up the car and join ACM on the Haub Family Field where the cars are the stars!

Watch in your car or from a blanket or chair on the ACM lawn. Either option will give you a great view of the 40-foot outdoor screen! Parking for the show starts 4:30 p.m., with show time at dusk (around 9:00 p.m.).

This event is FREE to the public, donations are accepted, but Museum admission is NOT included. Grab snacks from our picnic concessions.

Cruise-Ins at ACM

Aug. 13 – 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Mix and mingle with other car enthusiasts rain or shine, vote on the People’s Choice Award and enter to win a raffle. Cruise-Ins at ACM are free and anyone can participate. The Museum (general admission rates apply) will also have extended hours until 8 p.m. Cruise-Ins at ACM are every second Thursday, April through October.

Race Nights

Aug. 13 – 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Put your racing skills to the test the second Thursday of every month in the ACM Speed Zone!

CXC racing simulators are linked together to provide a realistic racing experience against other drivers. Compete on famous tracks such as: Daytona, Indy and more.

Race Nights are held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and are open to members, friends and the general public. Teams are also welcome to join in on the fun. Cost is $10 per person.

Take A Spin

Aug. 13 and 29– 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Take a drive down memory lane and experience history in motion!  Vehicles from the ACM collection will give visitors the opportunity to ride along ACM’s 3.5-acre Haub Family Field in vintage vehicles. Vehicles will vary each session and may include antique and pre-war classics to rides from the fabulous Fifties.

Family STEM Saturday

Aug. 15 – 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Design, build, tinker and learn together exploring the world of automobiles and their connection to science, technology, engineering, and math. You and your child, grandchild or family can spend quality time together exploring activities available in the Flex-a-lite Education Studio and Family Zone.

This month’s theme is Rocket Racers. Young scientists can experiment with chemical reactions by powering a vehicle using vinegar and baking soda.  They can also design their own balloon-powered rocket car to take home!
