After exceeding the team’s annual sales and marketing goals for 2015, the 14-member travel Tacoma team is taking a break from the office to help give back to Pierce County’s growing tourism industry.
Thursday, the team will help Tacoma Metro Parks clean the grounds of Meadow Park Golf Course, a century-old community golf course — and the 2nd course created in Washington State.
According to Chris Goodman, Golf Course superintendent, more people are coming to the golf course. “[It’s] in part due to the overall excitement of the US Open,” he said.
“The 2015 US Open is behind us, but the team at Travel Tacoma is looking ahead to the future of Pierce County as a premier golf destination,” said CEO and President, Bennish Brown. That’s why the whole team is taking a cold November day away from the office to help ready the grounds of this historic course.
The effort is a way to give back to the tourism industry. “Without the great tourism attractions that Tacoma Metro Parks and our other partners provide, we would not exist,” said Jaime Vogt, vice president of marketing for Travel Tacoma.
The team will rake leaves and help weed, making the area a better environment for golfers.
