Bates Technical College instructor Dale Trombley received the 2016 Exceptional Faculty Award. The annual award recognizes a faculty member who infuses their teaching with innovation, and who provides an exemplary level of work performance that fosters and supports student learning.
Trombley, who has taught the Facilities Maintenance Engineer program for 16 years, is known for his industry connections and helping students achieve their educational goals.
In his nomination letter, graduate Jason Latimer wrote, “[Mr. Trombley] not only helped me realize my potential, he also helped develop a keen interest for continuing my education.”
South Campus Dean Brandon Rogers wrote, “Dale’s contributions to his program of instruction, the college overall, and to the profession(s) he supports with his training are highly effective and commendable,” he wrote. “The Facilities Engineering program and its related certifications are highly respected within industry. Dale built and maintains this respect through his active engagement with other professionals and keeping his curricular current and responsive to workforce needs.”
As part of this award, Trombley will attend the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in May in Texas. Trombley will be a part of the Excellence Awards Dinner and Celebration with Exceptional Faculty Award honorees from across the country.
The state legislature created the Exceptional Faculty Awards program in 1990 to recognize and encourage excellence in teaching in Washington’s 34 public community and technical colleges. This award is made possible through a legislature-established endowed trust fund and the Bates Technical College Foundation.
