There are only a few weeks left of spring and some of us (probably most of us), haven’t gotten around to our annual deep cleaning. Fortunately, there are two local entrepreneurs who are ready to help—and not just with that way overdue deep spring cleaning. Samantha Putnam and Doug Compau will satisfy your residential and house cleaning needs all year round.

These local entrepreneurs each own a Molly Maid franchise, one in Tacoma and one in the Sumner area. If you’re not familiar with Molly Maid, the company has been around for over three decades and boasts over 450 franchises in the United States. The company has a stellar reputation. In fact, in 2016, Molly Maid franchise employees performed almost 2 million “cleans” for customers of which 90 percent were repeat customers.

It’s easy to see why Molly Maid customers have become accustomed to high quality service. Both Compau’s and Putnam’s franchises offer a real floor-to-ceiling clean that includes dusting (including light fixtures and hanging frames), vacuuming (even the furniture), mopping, and cleaning toilets, countertops, showers, tubs, mirrors, faucets, and appliances (including microwave and stove). You can even make special requests, such as having your bed made.

Both entrepreneurs have a common goal—to make customers happy. To that end, you can customize your cleaning experience—right down to the types of cleaning supplies that are used.

In addition to creating happy customers, Putnam and Compau believe in keeping their employees happy as well. Both Putnam and Compau treat employees like family—after they’ve gone through the proper vetting process, of course.

Explains Compau, “We use a national background check service, driving record check, SSN check, and our personal gut feeling about them and their friends and relatives after an interview. We put them on a one- to two-week probation while we watch work habits, attendance and personal life issues that pop up.”

Putnam’s employees also undergo background checks as well as specialized training.

Aside from intense vetting and treating employees as if they were family members, what sets these two Molly Maid franchises apart from other cleaning companies?

“Other cleaning service companies require contracts and even offer discounted rates if you stay with them 12 to 24 months, no matter whether you are happy or not with their service. We do not require contracts for service. We want to earn our customers’ business each time,” says Putnam.

Adds Compau, “Some cleaning services don’t do background checks or have any insurance. Some require a one-year contract for a good price. Some let the maids choose their own cleaning products—we use safe eco-friendly products. We try to always have someone in the office to take calls and correct any issues or changes. Our employees are well taken care of with a living wage, paid time off, paid holidays, safety, health, company cars, uniforms and all cleaning supplies.”

Compau takes special pride in his employees. “We always get feedback about how wonderful, friendly and efficient the ladies are, and how nice our office staff treats them as a customer.”

Putnam recalls a gushing testimonial from a happy customer. She shares the customer’s praise with us: “Wow! Our place looked amazing after three hours of Molly Maid here in Tacoma. We had just purchased a home and needed a deep clean desperately. The refrigerator was a disaster, so was the stove/oven. The two women who were responsible for our home were incredible! I wish I would have taken ‘before’ pictures. Even the bathroom was sparkling like new, not easy in a 1920s home. Great job, Molly Maids! We will be returning customers!”

Compau adds that customers enjoy flexibility when it comes to scheduling, something made possible by hiring so many locals. “Customers like our schedule flexibility when they have something come up. We employ 16 people. Business is growing and we’re giving jobs to entry level workers and empty nesters at wages above minimum wage.”

Both franchisees take pride in reducing the allergens, bacteria and germs in our homes and offices, disinfecting our homes against rhinovirus and other common causes for colds, flu and allergies.

Molly Maid’s most popular services are recurring cleaning services, such as weekly and alternate weekly cleanings, but they also offer one-time cleanings, such as move out or move in service. And remember – in home estimates are free!
