In recognition of his remarkable leadership skills, academic success, and dedication to community service, Mason Sullivan has been named Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound. This life-long recognition honors exceptional young individuals who are building a legacy of positive contributions to their communities.
As the recipient of this title, Mason has earned a $10,000 college scholarship from the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound and will represent the organization in the state competition later this month. Candidates who are named State Youth of the Year advance to compete at the regional and national levels. The Youth of the Year title is a testament to Club member’s commitment to excellence, both in academics and in their involvement at the Boys & Girls Club.

Mason, a senior at Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma, Washington, and a current member of the Henry T. Schatz Branch, has been a Club youth since 2016. Over the years, he has engaged in a variety of Club programs and served as a Jr. Staff member, mentoring and supporting younger members. With aspirations of earning a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of California, Los Angeles, Mason is deeply committed to both his academic goals and giving back to his community. He plans to volunteer at a local Boys & Girls Club while pursuing his studies.
This month, Mason will join his peers from across Washington to compete for the state title. The winner of the state competition will receive a $500 scholarship from Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington State, as well as an additional $2,500 from Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Regional winners are awarded $20,000, while national champions receive an impressive $50,000 scholarship.
