On television, buying a house is deceptively easy. It’s often portrayed as shop, select, sign, hooray. But real estate is a life-changing financial step for your family and you should be knowledgeable about every step of the process. Locally, realtor DiNero Williams of Royal-T RE-Team, believes in educating potential buyers and sellers from day one through – and even beyond – their sale. Working across western Washington, Williams understands the intricacies of this region and what it takes to thrive in our bustling corner of the world.

The Many Hats of DiNero Williams: Dad, Coach, Teacher, Mentor, Veteran, Boss and Realtor

Williams, who grew up on the East Coast, turned to real estate during COVID-19. With his wife working from home as a lending specialist and six daughters tackling online school, he pivoted from academia into real estate.

Formerly Director of Gateways for Incarcerated Youth at The Evergreen State College, Williams says that when on campus classroom time slowed down, he looked for a new challenge. Quarantine’s proximity meant he overheard much of his wife’s financial work and quickly learned from the experience. Williams began learning what makes a good real estate professional and supporting her with the process.

A long-time believer in financial literacy and education, Williams was also teaching his daughters and college students about money matters so things “just took off,” he recalls. He got a real estate license in 2021 and “hit the ground running ever since.”

Imparting Financial Literacy and Real Estate Knowledge to Underserved Communities

Williams believes that “financial literacy is imperative to how I give back. It’s natural for me to guide, nurture, and teach and I believe in helping people who look like me as well as other marginalized communities.”

He provides monthly homebuyer classes to keep potential clients informed but believes that working together is more than a job. “This is also a friendship contract,” says Williams, “and I’ll be in your life for as long as you need me. From explaining how to maintain a home, avoid foreclosure, help your kids buy or eventually move as you age, this is not just a one-time sale process and I want to change that common transactional narrative.”

Williams also offers clients suggestions on “highly vetted industry affiliates if work needs to be done. I always ask ‘Would I use this person?’ because things like inspection are a must.” It was through Tacoma Pierce County Association of REALTORS that he met Dwayne Boggs of Boggs Inspection Services. They bonded over their passion for quality service and charitable community giving.

Motivated to Understand and Help Families Find their Perfect Home

An Air Force veteran, Williams has plenty of experience navigating the VA system. He also works with many first-time homebuyers and seniors wanting to downsize or find a home that meets their changing needs.

He stays active in organizations like the Tacoma Pierce County Association of REALTORS and the Covenant Homeownership Program from the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.

Outside of work, Williams and his wife spend time with their youngest daughter – the last still living at home – as well as traveling with the Royal-T Real Estate sponsored softball team. Williams coaches while his wife plays and they compete nationwide. So far that has included Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, Minnesota, Nevada and California.
