Summer has arrived here in the PNW, and the kids are out of school. To beat the heat, splash pads and spray parks in Pierce County and Tacoma offer a safe and fun way to cool off.
Spray Parks in Tacoma
These splash pads in Tacoma are open daily, typically from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, or, in 2026, from May 23 to September 7, with hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Spray grounds are free to use. Food, drinks, and pets are not allowed. Water is recycled and sanitized through filtration and UV light. Bikes, rollerblades, and skateboards are not permitted from May 1 through September 30.
Running and disorderly behavior are prohibited. Anyone with a communicable disease, or who has had vomiting or diarrhea within the past two weeks may not use the spray ground.
Children who wear diapers must use swim diapers to help prevent contamination. Diapers may be changed only in designated restroom areas. Please take a cleansing shower before entering the spray ground.
Franklin Sprayground
1201 S. Puget Sound Avenue, Tacoma
Franklin Sprayground is part of Franklin Park, which features a picnic shelter, sports fields, a playground, and a basketball court. There is also a community garden, bathrooms, and walking paths.
Jefferson Park Sprayground
801 N. Mason Avenue, Tacoma
Jefferson Park Sprayground is located in Jefferson Park, a nearly 15-acre neighborhood park with space for team sports, a playground, tennis and pickleball courts, and picnic areas.
Kandle Sprayground
2323 N. Shirley Street, Tacoma
Kandle Sprayground is located outside Kandle Pool, Pierce County’s only wave pool. The pool is 5 feet deep at its deepest point and has a gradual, beach-style entry for easier access. A shallow tot pool and sprayground provide additional water play options for families. Kandle Park includes walking trails, a new playground, and a skateboard area.
Norpoint Sprayground

Find Norpoint Sprayground at Norpoint Park, a 19.72-acre park that includes a playground, rain gardens, a skate park, and trails.
SERA Campus Sprayground
3873 S. 66th Street, Tacoma
SERA Campus Sprayground is part of the massive 75+ acre SERA Campus. There, families will find the STAR Center, the Boys & Girls Club’s Topping Hope Center, and the Parks Tacoma sports complex.
Titlow Sprayground
8425 6th Avenue, Tacoma
Titlow Sprayground is featured at Titlow Park. This is another large park of 75 acres and offers a big grassy flat area on Puget Sound. Discover Hidden Beach is located on the west side of the park with a forest, trails, and access to a sandy shoreline. Launch your kayak or paddleboard near the railroad tracks and enjoy views of both Narrows Bridge and the Olympic Peninsula.
Verlo Sprayground

Verlo Sprayground in Verlo Park offers a playground, sports areas, restrooms, and trails.
Wright Sprayground
501 South I Street, Tacoma
Wright Sprayground is located at Wright Park. The 27-acre arboretum features more than 600 trees and is a great place to walk or enjoy the playground.
Sprinker Recreation Center
521 Military Road S., Tacoma
Open seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, weather permitting. Hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and it is closed on Tuesdays for cleaning.
The splash pad at Sprinker Recreation Center adds a fun, refreshing stop right next to the playground, making it easy for kids to cool off and keep playing. With interactive water features designed for a variety of ages, it’s a lively summer destination where families can splash, laugh, and beat the heat together.
Spray Parks in Pierce County
Outside of Tacoma, find spray parks dotted throughout Pierce County, including Puyallup, at JBML, Point Ruston, and Auburn.
Kiwanis Kids Spray Park
300 S Meridian, Puyallup
Open daily Memorial Day through Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For a summer cool down, check out the Kiwanis Kids Spray in Puyallup within Pioneer Park. Beyond the splash pad, find picnic tables, a grassy area, and restrooms in the fun downtown location.
Summer Cove Splash Park

Open with limited functionality from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Located on American Lake at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, find Summer Cove Park. This park not only features a splash park, but there is also a sandy beach with a wading area, a giant year-round playground, a skateboard plaza, a picnic area, and limited parking.
Grand Plaza & Children’s Splash Pad
Point Ruston
Open daily, beginning in June, from noon until 10 p.m.
Located at the Grand Plaza in Point Ruston, this awesome splash pad offers waterfront views. The water mimics salmon swimming upstream, and after dusk, kids delight in a colorful LED fountain light show until close.
Les Gove Spray Playground
910 9th Street SE, Auburn
Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day
The Rotary Spray Playground is inside Les Gove Park, where guests will find a softball field, play fields, and the Discovery Playground, an accessible playground. Also enjoy a half-mile paved trail with over 100 flowering cherry trees.
