At Comcast, we believe access to fast, reliable Internet can open doors for families, businesses, and entire communities. That is why I am excited to share that we are beginning construction on an expansion of our fiber-powered network in Kitsap County, Washington.
This project will bring our network to nearly 2,000 additional homes and businesses in the Kitsap Lake area, including Erlands Point, Harlow Drive, and Chico Way. Once construction is complete, these residents and businesses will have access to multi-gigabit, symmetrical Internet through Comcast’s converged network.
Residents can visit Xfinity’s My Town webpage and enter their address for information about construction timing and service availability. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
We are enthusiastic about what this expansion will mean for the community. Reliable connectivity helps students learn, gives people greater flexibility in how and where they work, provides access to important services such as healthcare, and allows families to stay connected to the people and experiences that matter most. For local businesses, strong connectivity can support daily operations, customer service, collaboration, and future growth.
Just as importantly, this expansion will provide more residents and businesses with another choice for high-speed Internet service. Rep. Dan Griffey, who represents Washington’s 35th Legislative District, highlighted the importance of that additional choice and Comcast’s continued investment in connectivity across Kitsap County. We appreciate his support and the strong partnership of local leaders who recognize how essential broadband has become to participation in today’s economy.
When our construction work is complete, customers in the expansion area will be able to choose from the full range of Xfinity residential services, including high-speed Internet, streaming and entertainment, mobile, voice, WiFi, and home security. Businesses will also have access to Comcast Business connectivity and technology solutions designed to serve organizations ranging from small startups to growing enterprises.
Our commitment to Kitsap County goes beyond building infrastructure. We want residents to have both the connectivity and the digital skills needed to take full advantage of the opportunities available online.
That is why we have supported local nonprofits, including the Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound and Easterseals Washington. These organizations provide Comcast WiFi-connected Lift Zones where students, people with disabilities, and other community members can access the Internet, use devices, and strengthen their digital skills. They also help eligible families learn about Internet Essentials, Comcast’s low-cost, high-speed broadband program.
These efforts are part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion initiative to advance digital opportunity and help create a future with greater possibilities for everyone. Expanding our network and supporting trusted community partners are complementary parts of the same commitment: helping more people connect to the resources, tools, and opportunities they need to succeed.
The Kitsap County project also builds on Comcast’s broader investment across Washington. Last year, we expanded Internet access to more than 45,000 additional homes and businesses in communities including Battle Ground, Cheney, Four Lakes, Key Peninsula, and Medical Lake. Over the past three years, Comcast has invested $1.2 billion in technology and infrastructure across the state, including network upgrades and new construction.
I am proud of the work our teams are doing to bring reliable connectivity to more communities, and I am especially pleased that more residents and businesses in Kitsap County will soon be able to experience our services.
We look forward to completing this expansion and becoming an even stronger partner to the people, businesses, and community organizations that make Kitsap County such a special place to live and work.
