Tips for visiting local pumpkin patches:
- First dibs get the ultimate pumpkins: Hit the patch early in the season while the selection is prime and nobody has claimed the legendary giant pumpkins yet.
- Beat the chaos: Roll up early in the morning unless you enjoy dodging runaway toddlers and elbowing through crowds for the best photo ops.
- Lace up for the trek: Wear comfy, sacrifice-friendly kicks—you’re going to be logging some serious steps through dirt and potential mud.
- Prepare for weather roulette: Mother Nature loves a plot twist! Pack sunscreen, an umbrella, or both, because the sky will test you.
- Trunk armor engaged: Line your car floor with cardboard or trash bags unless you want a permanent pumpkin-dirt reminder in your carpet until spring.
- Cash is still king: Cards might work, but cold, hard cash saves the day when the farm’s card reader decides to take a cozy autumn nap.
- Do your homework: Save yourself a tragic trip by checking the patch’s ground rules beforehand—whether you’re bringing your dog, hunting for a specific heirloom variety, or checking ADA access.
