Every September, Boggs Inspection Services hosts a fundraiser for the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation. With every commercial or residential inspection throughout the month, they’ll contribute to the Foundation, as well as spread the word about this amazing, supportive group of tireless individuals.

Honoring the Too-Brief Sparkling Life and Powerful Lasting Legacy of Rachel Lynn Henley

No family anticipates dealing with childhood cancer. While still relatively rare, cancer numbers in kids have risen over the last few decades. However, thanks to research and development, five-year survival rates are up, improving to approximately 85%.

Rachel Lynn Henley was first diagnosed with cancer at just 14 years old. From her diagnosis in 2007 until she passed away in 2015, Henley and her family also supported others dealing with a cancer diagnosis by raising money for research and giving kind, supportive gifts to other kids hospitalized in similar circumstances.

In her honor, the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation was founded and continues its mission of helping families impacted by childhood cancers. Monies raised help fund vital, cutting-edge medical research as well as smaller – but no less important – ways of putting some sparkle back into the lives of kids and parents navigating chemotherapy or radiation treatments and recovery.

One of the best ways they help is through Rachel’s Hugs. These are curated gifts and experiences which can make life feel more normal, fill the tedious hours of treatment, and let kids be kids once again. Rachel’s Hugs have included bedroom makeovers, laptops, gaming systems, flying in distant relatives or other comfort and confidence-building blessings.

Recent Hug recipients include 3-year-old Mariana who adored her iPad, LEGO sets, stroller, trampoline, art supplies, bubble wands, stuffed animals and fuzzy blankets. Teen McKayla opted for a spa package with her bestie and family members. They received massages, spa treatments, tasty treats, sparkling cider in champagne glasses and plenty of room service from a water-view hotel room.

Do Your Part by Scheduling an Inspection During Annual Boggs Fundraiser

The Foundation, run today by Rachel Lynn’s mom Mary and a wealth of other relatives and longtime friends, relies on the generosity of others to maintain its mission.

“We greatly appreciate community partners like Boggs Inspection Services,” says Mary Henley. “Their ongoing support not only raises funds for our mission of bringing smiles and joy to pediatric and young adult cancer fighters in our community, but also helps raise awareness about the heartwarming and important work that we are honored to do in Rachel’s name. We are grateful for their continued support.”

To make a contribution to the Foundation, you can donate directly through their page or round up the amount donated by Boggs after your inspection. The Foundation also partners with corporate community programs like the Washington State Combined Fund Drive, the Boeing Company’s Individual Giving Program, The Boeing Company’s Gift Match Program and the Nike Matching Gift Programs.

Many of us think property inspections are only needed when buying or selling. But they’re also a handy way of making the ultimate honey-do list or finding problems before they become expensive catastrophes. After you’ve printed out the Boggs Home Maintenance Checklist, scroll through their helpful sample report to see an in-depth example of what to expect.

Boggs Inspection Services does more than you might think. They can provide pre-listing and post-purchase inspections as well as those for annual maintenance, re-inspections (so you don’t have to take the word of the buyer or seller) and Walk & Talk packages of pre-offer review, evaluation and consultation.

You can also check out add-on services which deal with irrigation, lead and asbestos, mold and indoor air quality, sewer and septic, water testing, termites and other damaging pests, and well pump flow. To book an inspection now, either schedule online or call 360.480.9602 today.

The American Childhood Cancer Organization reports that each year 15,000 children in the U.S. and 400,000 worldwide are diagnosed with cancer. That’s a child every three minutes. While we can’t predict or prepare for that scary diagnosis, having knowledgeable allies like the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation are key to persevering through treatment and beyond. Supporting their work while tackling routine home maintenance is a win/win for kids everywhere.
