Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra: Stage & Screen Spectacular @ Tacoma Armory

The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, the leading professional ragtime orchestra in the United States, transports you in a musical time machine to share the fun and excitement of the early 20th century. Tap your feet to the syncopated stylings of the early 1900s – from tongue-in-cheek vocal numbers to the classics of Scott Joplin and George Gershwin, and even pop favorites by The Beatles and Queen. Watch classic silent films underscored by a live orchestra with music and sound effects!

Under the direction of virtuoso Andrew Greene, they recreate the syncopated stylings of a bygone era – Ragtime, Theater, and Dance music, along with underscoring classic silent films using an immense archive of over 15,000 original orchestral scores.

Ride for Major Taylor @ White Center Bicycle Playground (start and finish line)

Support Black and Brown youth in Tacoma’s Major Taylor Project clubs by joining Cascade Bicycle Club on the Ride for Major Taylor. This is a fundraising ride that supports a way for youth to gain confidence, leadership skills, and bike knowledge as part of free after-school bike clubs in Tacoma and Seattle. This event is Cascade Bicycle Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year for these clubs.

The Ride for Major Taylor takes place April 23 from 7 am to 3 pm and offers 26 and 63-mile routes that are fully supported. The 63-mile route includes a journey through Tacoma and Pierce County along the Sound. Registration is $130 for Cascade members, $140 for non-members, and $30 for youth 18 and under (scholarships are available for adults and youth). Registration includes ferry fare, souvenirs, route support (mechanics, medical, etc), and a finisher meal with vegan and gluten-free options.

Rebuilding Hope’s Spring Soiree @ Silver Cloud Hotel Tacoma Point Ruston Waterfront

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, join Rebuilding Hope for their second annual Spring Soiree on Friday, April 28 at the Silver Cloud Hotel Tacoma at Point Ruston Waterfront! This year’s festivities will include a live auction, fabulous raffle baskets, signature cocktail and opportunities to learn about our work directly from agency providers and leaders.

This is a cocktail hour-style event. All tickets include hotel valet parking, hors d’oeuvres, sponsored wine and beer bar and opportunities to meet staff and learn about agency programs.

VIP tickets include complimentary champagne spirits (or mocktails), exclusive access to the Waterview Terrance (weather dependent) and early access to raffle and live auction previews.

VIP check-in begins at 4pm. General Admission check-in begins at 5pm.

Funds raised at this year’s Soiree will support existing and expanding services and programs – including 24/7 victim/survivor advocacy and crisis intervention, sliding-scale therapy, wrap-around case management, prevention education and community outreach.With your help, we hope to reach our goal of $75,000!

BYU Singers @ Pantages Theater

A captivating choral ensemble with impressive voices and a wide variety of styles, the Brigham Young University Singers perform pieces from nearly every musical genre as well as many original works written or arranged for the choir.

Conducted by Dr. Andrew Crane, BYU Singers consists of 40 students pursuing a variety of graduate and undergraduate degrees, including music. They have given concerts in some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Sydney Opera House. The choir appeared on national television in four programs created for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and has performed many times by invitation at regional and national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, National Collegiate Choral Organization, and the National Association for Music Education.

Founded in 1984 by Ronald Staheli, BYU Singers has a enjoyed a robust touring schedule. They are frequently invited to compete as representatives of the United States in choral competitions abroad. In recent years BYU Singers has received multiple first place prizes and cash awards in a variety of European choral competitions, including the Tolosa (Spain) International Choral Contest (2022), International Stasys Šimkus Choir Competition (Klaip?da, Lithuania, 2021), and the International Youth Choir Festival “Aegis Carminis” (Koper, Slovenia, 2021). They have traveled to 27 countries including Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, England, Egypt, Australia, Ghana, Ireland, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Spain, and the Baltic States.
