Samantha Putnam keeps busy both at work and in her personal life. Along with her husband David, Samantha owns and operates a local Molly Maid franchise that serves several areas, including Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Steilacoom, Puyallup, Fife, Edgewood, Milton and Federal Way. The company provides cleaning services no matter if you need a full-home clean sweep, live in a condo or apartment, or just moved out and need some help getting your home ready for its next resident.
The couple’s business offers residential and commercial cleaning services and allows them to provide employment for 15 area residents—a point important to the couple, who treat both clients and employees like family.
“We are a family that wants to help take care of everyone else’s family,” says Samantha. “We try to do everything in our employees’ and customers’ best interests.”
Long before she owned her own business, Samantha knew that she was destined to be an entrepreneur. “I worked for a [cleaning service] franchise when I was younger and it made me realize that my dream of owning my own business was possible,” she explains. “I worked in property management for 10 years and was very successful,” she continues. “I realized I could use that experience to be successful in owning a business. My husband loved my dream as well and has supported me in every step of the way.”
That loyal and supportive husband, David, kept his day job at Boeing when the couple bought the franchise, but helps after work with vehicle maintenance and vacuum repair. His professional background includes crane inspections, residential alarm installation, as well as repair and maintenance—which obviously comes in handy in his role at Molly Maid.
When Samantha began considering business opportunities, opening a Molly Maid franchise truly was a no-brainer. “We really like the business model and the integrity of Molly Maid. It’s not your run-of-the-mill franchise,” says Samantha proudly.
With such a high level of integrity and the consideration they show their customers, it’s no wonder they have a lot of repeat business. The most popular services are recurring cleaning services, such as weekly and alternate weekly cleanings. However, they do also offer one-time cleanings, if you only need help once or twice.
For a person who runs her business with a strong focus on family and integrity, it is no surprise that what she values most about being a small business owner is the fact that she is able to have time for a personal life instead of being stuck in the rat race. She says her favorite thing about owning a Molly Maid franchise is the, “freedom to do what I want and spend time with my family.”
Although the family makes its home in Eatonville, Samantha was raised in Auburn. Growing up in Washington, it should come as no surprise that her favorite family activities involve nature and wildlife. During the couple’s free time, they – along with one-year-old daughter Olivia – enjoy the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest. The family of three love to explore the Northwest and go camping often. Samantha, David and Olivia also visit local attractions such as the Point Defiance Zoo and Northwest Trek many times throughout the year.
Aside from camping and visiting the local animals and wildlife, the family also loves to vacation, go swimming and skiing, and spend lots of time with their extended family.
