The students at Anderson Island Elementary started the 2017-18 school year with safer access to their classroom.
The Kiwanis Club of Steilacoom spearheaded the efforts to build students and staff a sidewalk on one side of their building that was only accessible by grass. Harley Moberg, Project Manager and other Kiwanians, secured material and equipment donations from Anderson Island Nursery and Landscaping, White’s Inc. and the Island Café.
Physical labor was donated by the 42nd Military Police Brigade, JBLM, Anderson Island residents and Kiwanis Club of Steilacoom members. The team effort and generous donations are another example of community efforts to improve schools.
