Studies show that over a lifetime, the average American has seven careers and moves nearly a dozen times. Few of us stick to a single path – or live under the same roof – from day one through retirement. For Kimberly Parks, the newest member of the Boggs Inspection Services team, that kind of creative renaissance spirit is at the heart of all she does.

Experience has given Parks a unique insight into the field. She built her own home and understands the complex workings a house entails. Now, as an inspector, she works for local families ensuring their biggest investment is safe and secure.

From Builder to Inspector, Kim Parks Brings Experience to the Boggs Inspection Services Team

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Parks moved to Washington State in 2008 and joined the Boggs Inspection Services team in March 2025. New to the industry, she came to the field through her personal experience as a builder.

“I was working on building my own house with a group of now neighbors,” explains Parks. “A conversation about inspections led me to look into home inspections as a career. It looked fun so I made the leap into changing careers. The amount of detail needed to perform the job and endless learning opportunity really appealed to me, as well as being able to get out of the office world and be able to move while working.”

Before this, Parks was a home care supervisor and caregiver, both job types requiring an eye for detail, extensive knowledge and a heart for customers.

A Love of Learning, Detailed Challenges and Customer Service Drives Home Inspector Kim Parks

“Buying a home is a huge and intimidating process for a lot of people,” empathizes Parks. “The peace of mind that Boggs provides is invaluable. I love seeing the relief and excitement on a person’s face when they get the reassurance they need to make their investments. Even when things don’t work out the way they hope there’s a relief there that they wouldn’t have otherwise.”

As she finds her footing in the home inspection field, Parks is focusing on increasing her efficiency and knowledge base. She hopes to “never stop growing” in the quest to understand the many workings, both seen and unseen, that go on in both commercial and residential properties.

But at Boggs Inspection Services, employees are so much more than just staff. “Everyone has been so kind and supportive,” says Parks. “It’s a real family-first kind of place. I think they’re very unique in the way they build up and stand behind their team and I feel very lucky to have joined them.”

Outside of Work Parks Enjoys Archery, Clothing Design, Hiking and Demetrius the Cat

Thanks to creativity, personal expression and unique design choices, no two homes (or home inspections) are ever quite the same. And like her varied career path, Kim Parks has hobbies which run the gamut as well.

She loves hiking and camping and tries to take a walk outdoors every day. She researches and sews historical clothing for medieval reenactments, inspired by an earlier degree in apparel design. She’s also an avid archer, new-found gardener and loves self-proclaimed “girly girl” things. Parks loves animals, including Demetrius her cat, shooting stars, the color pink and curling up with a romance novel.

They even offer infrared thermography to detect unseen temperature variations. These might be caused by electrical issues, insulation variations, heating and cooling efficiency or water leaks. Fixing them early can save costly repairs or dangerous living conditions for yourself and your family.

Boggs also offers add-ons like irrigation inspectionsmold and indoor air quality testing, sewer scope and septic inspectionswell pump flow tests, termite and wood destroying pest inspections and lead and asbestos notification.
