With October now in the rearview mirror, high school sports teams across the area are either moving on in the district and state tournaments or preparing for next season following their squads elimination from post-season play.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, Tacoma and Lakewood were the site for a series of league and district tournaments.

The 3A/4A Narrows League volleyball championships took place at Tacoma’s Mt. Tahoma High School while cross country teams from across the region ran across the fairways of the American Lake Golf Course in the Westside Classic District Cross Country Championships.

A collection of both Thurston and Pierce County teams took on one another on the volleyball court, with Timberline walking away with the 3A Championship and Bellarmine Prep earning the 4A league crown. Olympia and North Thurston each earned third place in the 4A and 3A events respectively and will each advance on to the district tournament.

In Lakewood, Olympia High School’s Peter Kesting won the 4A district championship with a time of 16:10:65.  North Thurston’s James Jasperson was the top county finisher in the 3A division, as he finished fifth overall.
