Bates Technical College’s Regional Accreditation Reaffirmed

Submitted by Bates Technical College

Praising Bates Technical College for its “commitment to student success” and ensuring that graduates are “prepared for the workforce,” the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) reaffirmed the college’s accreditation last month.

“The Commission applauds… students for their engagement and commitment to their programs of study and for recognizing partnerships in instructional methods that reflect realistic work environments,” said NWCCU President Sandra Elman in the formal notification letter sent to Bates President Dr. Ron Langrell.

“The commission also commends the college’s administration and Board of Trustees for setting the future direction of the institution through involved, active engagement in the campus and surrounding community,” the letter stated.

President Langrell praised the efforts across the college that prepared for the visit of the NWCCU representatives. “I especially want to thank the students, faculty and staff who participated in the forums with the accreditation representatives, and for their commitment to our college’s success,” he said.

Bates has been continuously accredited as a community-based two-year technical college since becoming part of the state’s community college system in 1991. The next full-scale evaluation visit is scheduled fall 2020.
