There’s a lot new to see and “zoo” at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, and there’s no better time for a family outing than Saturday, when all mothers will receive half-off general admission.
Half-Price Moms’ Day is a tradition at the zoo, where the live-animal show, “Indiana Bones and the Golden Treasure,” just opened its Summer 2015 run at the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater.
Shows are at noon and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Plus, many of the zoo’s animals will receive special enrichments during the day.
- 11:00 a.m. Watch meerkat moms enjoy a “Mother’s Day Brunch” in Kids’ Zone.
- 12:30 p.m. See Sumatran tiger mom Jaya and her 7-month-old triplets as the girls frolic in piles of ice and enjoy special treats.
- 3:00 p.m. Watch harbor seal moms play with feeder puzzles and ice treats in the zoo’s Rocky Shores area.
- 3:30 p.m. See clouded leopards receive a Mother’s Day-inspired treat.
In addition, the colorful budgies are back, and they’ll fly right up to visitors’ hands to eat the seeds on special sticks that can be purchased for $1 for zoo members or $1.50 for non-members.
And kids can hop aboard a camel for a ride or take a spin on an antique carousel.
It’s a great weekend for quality family time, and Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is the perfect place to share the day.
