September was national Muscular Dystrophy month and local business owner Dwayne Boggs and his team at Boggs Inspection Services committed to donating $5 for every inspection completed during the month to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The South Sound home inspection team wanted to extend its already local charitable donations to the national level and this was the perfect month for it.

Boggs Inspection Services’ strong working relationship with Weichert Reynolds Real Estate helped spark the idea and agency owner Randy Reynolds agreed to match all donations the Boggs team made. To learn about his personal connection to muscular dystrophy and the immense financial burden the association helps alleviate for families facing an MD diagnosis, read more about Reynold’s personal connection to Muscular Dystrophy here.

While the two teams hoped for the best, they were pleasantly surprised when Boggs Inspection Services had one of their busiest months in the history of the company. The Boggs Inspection team logged 111 inspections during the month of September and was able to donate $555 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Reynolds Team was true to its word and matched the Boggs donation, dollar for dollar. Together, the two businesses donated $1,110 for Muscular Dystrophy.

“We really wanted to do something to give back, and not just take in the dollars, along with the trust, that the community gives us,” shares Dwayne of his motivation for the donation.

Reynolds was moved by Boggs’ support and by the generous donation, saying “Dwayne, I want to thank you for all you’ve done to support MDA. The donation means a lot to families going through the struggle of diagnosis and treatment.”

Reynold’s knows first-hand the struggles, both financial and emotional, when a family receives a Muscular Dystrophy diagnosis. His family received this news just a few years ago when Reynold’s teenage grandson was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease.

“I want to thank each and every one of you,” said Dwayne to the Weichert Reynolds Real Estate team during a meeting earlier this month. “Each one of you who chose to use Boggs Inspection Services during the month of September contributed to this donation.”

The two partners and friends congratulated each other on the successful month and Boggs and his Office Manager, Heather Rowell, presented Reynolds with a ceremonial check. The entire staff joined in the celebration, knowing their teamwork and philanthropy would reach out into the community, helping families who are in need.

Boggs Inspection Services is familiar with giving back and it participates in a number of philanthropic endeavors throughout the South Sound. During the holidays, Boggs Inspection Services supports a Puyallup-based dance group called Inspired to Dance Booster Club. He purchases hundreds of holiday poinsettias from the group and delivers them as a “thank you” to real estate agents around the area. The fundraiser helps cover the significant expenses of competitive dance and the parents and dancers appreciate his generosity each year. Each holiday season, Boggs Inspection Services purchases hundreds of poinsettias, supporting a local dance group, and delivers them to South Sound realtors as a thank you for working with the Boggs team.

Dwayne also is an active member of the Gateway Rotary Club, a local group whose motto is “Service above Self.” Each year the group’s Brats, Brews and Bands event not only entertains South Sound residents, but raises significant funds for local charity groups.

Education is high on the priority list for Boggs Inspection Services charitable giving. The team recently made a $500 donation to the scholarship fund at South Puget Sound Community College. Their donation helps fund training and classes for students attending the school, working toward a better future for themselves.

And this is just the beginning for the growing Boggs team. Dwayne smiles and shares, “Oh, I’m just getting started. I love to give back and support the community that supports my small business and helps it to grow. It’s a natural partnership and one I will continue with.”
