Wayne Withrow Named Trustee to Clover Park Technical College

Submitted by Clover Park Technical College

Wayne Withrow was appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee as trustee at Clover Park Technical College Feb. 24. Withrow serves in the position previously held by Dr. Robert Lenigan, who served 10 years as a trustee and labor representative for the college.

The CPTC Board of Trustees is composed of five district residents appointed by the governor to five-year terms. The board sets the policy for the institution and delegates administrative authority to the college president.

Withrow, a Tacoma resident, is a code enforcement officer in the environmental health section of the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. He will retire June 30 after 26 years with the department.

Born and raised in Dunbar, West Virginia, Withrow moved to Washington in 1987. He graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology (now DeVry University) in 1971, and then earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from West Virginia State College in 1979. He was drafted in 1971 and served two years in the Army.

“I have an affection for technical colleges and technical education,” Withrow said. “I believe it can be financially and emotionally rewarding.”

Withrow joins Chair Mark Martinez, Bruce Lachney, Mary Moss and Lua Pritchard on the board.

Withrow’s term end date is Sept. 30, 2020.
