The Puyallup Historical Society presents a history of local boy and UW crew member George “Shorty” Hunt, Jr., including race memorabilia, photographs and film clips of the 1936 Olympic boat race. Cameo appearance by Hunt’s daughter, Kristin Cheney. Revel in race memorabilia and stories of a local “Boys in the Boat” crew member at 10:30 a.m. on April 18, 2015, at Puyallup Public Library, 324 S. Meridian, Puyallup 98371. Pierce County Library System and Puyallup Public Library are partnering to present Puyallup’s Boy in the Boat, a Pierce County READS 2015 signature event. Filled with history and local interest, “The Boys in the Boat” is the 2015 selection for Pierce County Library’s 8th annual Pierce County READS, a one-community, one-book program that encourages everyone in the county to read the same book at the same time and come together to talk about it.
