Seattle Baroque Orchestra and Auburn Symphony Orchestra join forces to present a unique program of contemporary pieces inspired by baroque traditions. The inspiration and centerpiece of the program, Philip Glass’ Harpsichord Concerto, features renowned harpsichordist Jillon Stoppels Dupree who premiered the work in 2002 with Northwest Chamber Orchestra. Under the direction of Wesley Schulz, the program also includes Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte, Ernest Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No. 1 and Heitor Villa Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 9. Each piece presents a lively, modern take on past musical forms. As nostalgia runs wild today, SBO and ASO invite you to an experience that will honor the past and inspire the future.
