Wherever the Seattle Cossacks ride, people watch and wonder – how can they do that on motorcycles!?! No ropes, no props, no gimmicks – they just have skills. The stunts, motorcycles (and the applause) have been going on for over 70 years. The Seattle Cossacks are a motorcycle stunt and drill team that first organized in the late 1930s, and they strive “to entertain and promote the positive image of motorcycling and rider safety”. They are named after Russia’s cavalry members, the Cossacks, who were known the world over for their masterful horsemanship. Motorcycles were often called “iron horses” in those days, so the name “Seattle Cossacks” is appropriate. They generally ride vintage 1930s or 1940s Harley-Davidsons. All bikes are stock except for the handlebars, and these great old bikes are sturdy and stable enough to bear the weight of multiple riders, and their masterful ridership. At our Marymount Motorcycle Week event, not only will they be doing their stunt and drill performance, but they will even be doing a special, thrilling stunt that is rarely, if ever seen by the public: their flaming board crash, where a motorcycle rider crashes a bike through a wall of flames! You won’t want to miss this special performance!
