It can be difficult to keep the flames of love ignited. Trips to restaurants may become dull, and it can quickly feel like there’s nothing new to experience in town. So, if you’re looking to take your date night to the next level, look no further. With this handy guide, you’ll be sure to find at least one way to spend a date night kissing, laughing, and even enjoying a thrill together — guaranteed!

Gig Harbor Gondola

hawks prairie casinoAre you ready to look lovingly into your date’s eyes as you glide along the water? You don’t have to travel to Italy to be serenaded by a gondolier. In fact, John “Cinque” Synco will take you on a romantic gondola ride right in downtown Gig Harbor, home to the only Venetian gondola operation in the Pacific Northwest. Choose between a 60-minute ride that will take you around half of the harbor, or you can go for the full 90-minute experience that will go around the entire harbor. The cruise includes a small appetizer.

Kayak to Fox Island

Outdoor Adventures
Whether you prefer to paddle your own craft or take to the water tandem style, kayaking is a great way to spend a day on the water with your sweetie. Photo courtesy: Outdoor Adventures.

Head to the JBLM Northwest Adventure Center and rent a couple kayaks and enjoy a leisurely paddle to Fox Island. For an easy route, leave from Solo Point. For extra romantic bonus points, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the secluded beach. While Solo Point is outside the actual gates of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, it is considered part of the base and is open only to ID cardholders. Though there are no guards or gate, military police frequently patrol the area, and tickets are issued to those without proper car tags and/or identification.

Share a Laugh at the Tacoma Comedy Club

A trip to the Tacoma Comedy Club can sure be a fun way to enjoy a date night. This is about stepping out of the box and doing something adventurous. You can always attend a show, but if you’re looking for something a bit more interactive, why not take the stage instead? On Wednesday evenings, the venue hosts an open mic. It’s a free show to attend, so there’s nothing to lose whether you attend to go up on stage. Impress your date or partner. Reservations are not required.

Let’s bring back the old school skating. Rollin’ 253 in Tacoma offers plenty of fun opportunities to lock hands with your date and zoom around with each other. Heat things up

Let’s heat things up! There’s no better way to do that than at the Museum of Glass Hot Shop. During Museum hours, you can watch demonstrations of glassblowing live, or if you really want to get up close and personal with the glassblowing process, you’ve got options. Rent the Hot Shop and recreate the famous “Ghost” scene — but with glass and fire! The Hot Shop crew is available during your rental time to help make your piece magnificent. Or book a Blow Your Own workshop to learn more about the process by trying it yourself.
