Commissioner Franz to Join Partners in Gig Harbor for Wildfire Ready Neighbors Launch

Washington Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz will join Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One and other community partners to launch Wildfire Ready Neighbors to emphasize the importance of wildfire preparedness ahead of summer.

Wildfire Ready Neighbors is a free initiative from the Department of Natural Resources that empowers residents to proactively prepare for wildfires with free resources, including a custom plan and optional home visits with a wildfire expert.

Joining Commissioner Franz will be Chief Dennis Doan from Gig Harbor Fire, representatives from the American Red Cross and others.

Department of Natural Resources staff will also illustrate common wildfire and ember risks with a small-scale home and demonstrate common actions residents can take on their own homes to prepare.
