Iuliano explains that he works in general neurosurgery. Though originally from Rhode Island, Iuliano’s family relocated to Washington State when he was in elementary school. He then returned to the East Coast for college and the Midwest for medical school at Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic. While at Mayo, he did a neurosurgery residency, which included a general surgery internship near Philadelphia and a neurosurgical clinical research fellowship with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
His first practice was in Baltimore, but after six years, Iuliano moved to Olympia to join the team at the Providence Southwest Washington Neurosurgery group at St. Peter Hospital. Now, after 15 years, that division is closing, so he transferred to OlyOrtho to continue serving the Olympia community.
“The decision to join OlyOrtho when the Providence Neurosurgery practice decided to close was easy,” says Iuliano, “because I have developed a good working relationship with their current neurosurgeons over the last eight years. Not all diagnoses require invasive surgery. Iuliano believes in only operating when there is a solid chance of helping. “Doing surgery is the easy part,” he says, “the hard part is knowing when surgery would be beneficial and should be considered.”
In the rare moments when he’s not working, Iuliano stays equally busy with his wife and four children. He also enjoys tennis, hiking, traveling, reading and watching sports or a good movie.
