Southern Troubadours in the Round @ Pantages Theater | Tacoma | Washington | United States

Broadway Center for the Performing Arts presents Southern Troubadours in the Round featuring Joe Ely, Ruthie Foster and Paul Thorn.

Three artists whose careers have followed distinctly different paths converge on stage to create a fusion of rock, blues, soul and more. This is an evening of genre-defying, soulful Southern fun!

Joe Ely is one of the true pioneers of the alt-country, Americana, “too rock for country, too country for rock” brigade. His boundary-blurring blend of rock, country blues and folk has sometimes been termed “roadhouse music,” but might most accurately be described as “Texas Music” steeped in the heart of the Lone Star State.

Ruthie Foster’s eclectic musical history proves that she can burn down any stage with her combustible blend of soul, blues, rock, folk and gospel. She recently won the Blues Music Award for Best Contemporary and Best Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year.

Paul Thorn’s muscular brand of roots music is bluesy, rockin’, thoroughly Southern, and also speaks universal truths. His album Pimps and Preachers, which topped the Americana charts for three weeks and broke into the Billboard Top 100, perfectly exemplified the vivid scope of his songwriting.
